New to the Board

The Akron Area PRSA Chapter welcomes to the Board new Programming Directors Denise Henry, Sarah Lane and Edward M. Metzinger.
Denise Henry
As a public relations representative for The University of Akron, Denise promotes the University's science, technology, engineering and mathematics news.
Prior to joining UA in 2008, Denise served as the editor of Akron Life & Leisure magazine, for which she earned a second-place Ohio Excellence in Journalism award for her feature reporting. Previously, she was an assistant public relations director at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center in California and a public relations manager for the former Greater Cleveland Growth Association, garnering honors for communications programs, special events and publications for both organizations.
Denise is an alumna of Ohio University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and was an active PRSSA member. She joined Akron PRSA in 2008.
Sarah Lane
Sarah serves as a public relations representative for The University of Akron. She says the best part of her job is spreading the word about student success. As a Cuyahoga Falls native and two-time UA graduate, she has bachelor's and master’s degrees in communication. Sarah has deep roots in the community and a strong commitment to the University.
Sarah previously spent more than seven years as a community relations specialist at Summit County Children Services prior to joining UA’s PR staff in July 2007.
Edward M. Metzinger
Edward is a recent graduate from the University of Akron. He attended the university as a non-traditional student studying public relations, marketing and theater. Edward was a member of Public Relations Students Society of America from 2005 to May 2009 and was elected to the Treasurer position in 2007-2008 & 2008-2009. He severed as an intern and summer writer from 1/2008 to 8/2008 at The University of Akron Department of Institutional Marketing and at the City of Akron Active Adult Department from 1/2009 to 5/2009 as an events intern.
He has been employed at Schwebel Baking Company for the past 10 years as a transportation supervisor. Edward is actively looking for employment within his course of study.
